Nissan or Toyota CVT? Start with the version before the brand
The manufacturer name is not enough to judge transmission lifespan. Here we separate transmission identity from assessing a used vehicle, explaining what a source establishes and what needs an inspection and service history.
The same name may hide a different transmission

These examples only illustrate version differences. Different markets and years prevent treating this table as a reliability ranking or an equivalent performance comparison. Do not attribute the regional Sunny's CVT to the Egyptian Sunny based on the name.
Before comparing two used vehicles
Identity file
Record the model year, country of sale, trim name and VIN. Match the transmission type to the version's document; automatic in an advert is not enough.
Service file
Request invoices detailing the work and materials used. A fluid-change invoice does not prove the specification or procedure was correct; match them to the instructions for that particular transmission.

This card organises observations; it is not a stress test. Test-driving requires the owner's permission, normal driving and a safe location. If there is a transmission warning or loss of drive, do not try to reproduce the symptom through hard acceleration; follow the vehicle instructions and seek technical assistance.
What do specification brochures not establish?
Transmission type, seat count and power are identifying details. These sources do not provide a failure rate or expected lifespan, nor do they establish that Nissan tolerates traffic less well or that Toyota never overheats. Such a ranking requires comparable failure data by model, year and use, which is unavailable in this page's sources.
How do you make a practical choice?
Start by excluding a vehicle with an undiagnosed fault or a history you cannot assess. Between two technically acceptable vehicles, compare available servicing costs, condition and suitability for your use. An inspection result for the particular vehicle is stronger evidence for buying it than a generalisation about every transmission from its manufacturer.

Is there one fluid for every CVT?
Do not choose a service material from the abbreviation alone. Use the specification and procedure stated for your version, and ask for them in writing in the workshop quotation.
Does the absence of a warning light mean the transmission is healthy?
That alone is insufficient for buying a used vehicle. Combine service history, a test drive and specialist inspection before deciding.
